Halal Hot Meal Catering for London Offices: Certified, Nut-Free, Delivered to EC4

healthy food London catering

Halal hot meal catering for London offices sounds simple. In practice, most suppliers offering it operate in ways that do not meet the standard that halal-observant employees are actually seeking. Halal catering that is independently certified, prepared in a wholly halal kitchen rather than alongside non-halal food, and accompanied by robust allergen management is rare. Vanda's Kitchen is one of a small number of London corporate caterers that provides all three.

Our kitchen at Carter Lane EC4V 5EA is certified halal by the Halal Friendly List. Certification covers the entire operation — every meat and poultry ingredient, every sauce, every preparation surface. We do not operate a mixed kitchen with separate halal shelves; the whole kitchen is halal. We are also 100% nut-free and hold 5-star food hygiene. Our products are stocked in Selfridges Food Hall. What independently-certified halal actually means

The word halal on a menu does not in itself mean the food has been prepared to halal standards. In the UK market, the term is used across a spectrum: from fully certified operations with documented supply chains to informal claims by businesses whose only halal compliance is the meat being sourced from a halal butcher while the kitchen itself handles non-halal items without strict separation. For employees who genuinely observe halal as part of their religious practice, the difference matters.

Independent certification involves a third-party body verifying the supply chain (meat sourced from certified halal suppliers), the kitchen operation (no contamination with non-halal ingredients), the preparation process (separate equipment, or all-halal equipment), and the ongoing compliance (regular review). Halal Friendly List certification — the scheme we hold — publishes the certification status publicly, which means halal-observant employees can verify before eating. Read our guide to why halal certification matters for the full context.

The practical effect in a corporate catering context is that employees who observe halal do not have to interrogate the caterer, select from a small marked section of the menu, or take it on trust that the food is appropriate. They can eat from the full menu with full confidence — which is the only acceptable standard for a dietary requirement rooted in religious practice.

Our hot meal format for team lunches

Our hot meal packs deliver individually-portioned, fully-labelled team lunches in our signature Freedom Tray format. Each employee receives their own meal — no shared serving, no buffet line, no confusion about which dish is halal. Every tray is labelled with the dish, full allergen information, and dietary markers.

Menu options include chilli beef with steamed rice and green beans, honey garlic salmon with beetroot tabbouleh and spiced sweet potatoes, creamy chicken and sundried tomato fusilli pesto with roast mushroom and spinach, and chicken curry with rice and garlic green beans. Meat-based dishes are fully halal-certified. The kitchen is 100% nut-free, so every dish is safe for employees with nut allergies. Vegetarian and vegan options are prepared with the same rigour, without cross-contamination from meat preparation.

Our Mixed Meal Pack provides a balanced chef's selection across all four signature dishes for teams with varied preferences. For offices where employees want choice without the admin of polling the team each week, this format is the single most popular option we supply.

Allergen management alongside halal

Halal observance is often one dietary requirement among several on a corporate team. The team member observing halal may be sitting next to a colleague with a nut allergy, a gluten-sensitive colleague, and a vegetarian. Catering that manages halal well but fails on other allergens leaves the team in the same position as catering that fails on halal: some people cannot eat safely.

Our operation is built to handle multiple requirements simultaneously without trade-offs. The kitchen is nut-free (structurally, not procedurally — we have never had nuts on site). Every dish is labelled in line with Natasha's Law. Gluten-free options are genuine like-for-like alternatives rather than afterthoughts. The Halal Friendly List certification provides the halal assurance. See our allergen matrix for full detail on every product.
