Film shoot and production catering delivered to Soho production offices, location shoots in the West End and unit bases across central London — from Vanda's Kitchen on Carter Lane near St Paul's. Halal-certified throughout, 100% nut-free, over 60% gluten-free menu, designed to handle the dietary mix of any London crew without parallel orders.
Soho is the UK production heartland. Most independent and mid-tier UK film and TV production runs through Soho production offices. Location shoots happen across the West End, the City, and increasingly across the wider Greater London area as productions chase distinctive locations and tax-efficient studio time. Vanda's Kitchen on Carter Lane (EC4V 5EA, near St Paul's) sits within direct delivery distance of every Soho production office and most central London location work.
Why production catering near Soho needs a particular kind of kitchen
Crew dietary requirements on a London shoot are some of the most complex in catering. International cast and crew bring halal, kosher-style, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-allergic requirements all into the same call sheet. The runner placing the catering order is usually working from a dietary spreadsheet compiled at the start of the shoot, with conditions ranging from religious observance to coeliac disease to lifestyle veganism.
Standard catering manages this with side menus and special orders. For a crew of 25 on a one-day shoot, this is workable. For a crew of 60 on a three-week feature, it becomes a logistical liability — the production manager spends time and budget tracking dietary compliance instead of managing the shoot.
The alternative is a kitchen where dietary inclusion is structural rather than special-order. That's how Vanda's Kitchen operates:
Halal certified throughout the kitchen. Independently certified by the Halal Friendly List. Whole-kitchen certification, not per-item. Every protein, every preparation surface, every item served is halal. For crews including observant Muslim cast or crew, no parallel order is needed.
100% nut-free at the structural level. No nuts present in the kitchen. Cross-contamination risk for nut-allergic crew is eliminated, not managed.
Over 60% gluten-free as standard. Designed that way, not adapted on request. Coeliac and gluten-sensitive crew have a properly large menu to choose from rather than two token options.
Natasha's Law allergen labelling on every item. Useful for any production with a serious allergen requirement on the call sheet — and increasingly important as production insurance reviews allergen handling alongside health and safety.

What formats work for production catering
Most production catering bookings fall into one of three patterns:
Daily crew meals. Hot meals, individual portions, or platters delivered to set or unit base. Scales from a 10-person small-unit shoot to a 100+ feature crew. For productions running breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, and afternoon tea, we can fulfil multiple drops across the day.
Multi-day shoots with rotating menus. Hot meal packs (chilli beef, honey garlic salmon, chicken pasta, chicken curry, chef's mix in 10, 20 or 40-portion variants) rotated across the shoot week alongside light lunch platters, breakfast pots, and sandwich/bagel platters. Volume pricing applies for sustained bookings — 10% off 50+ meals per week, 15% off 100+ meals per week.
Last-minute and pickup orders. Productions move fast. We accept short-notice catering where our schedule allows, and crew can collect from our Carter Lane shop near St Paul's when delivery isn't workable.
Why Selfridges Food Hall quality matters on a shoot
It's tempting for a production to economise on crew catering. The crew are working long hours, the budget pressure is constant, and a £100 saving on lunch each day across a 20-day shoot adds up to real money.
The catch is what cheap crew catering does to morale and productivity. A crew that eats badly performs worse — slower, less alert, more grumpy, more prone to errors. The cost of a poor performance day on a feature shoot is hundreds of times the catering saving. Productions that prioritise crew food consistently get more done per shooting day than productions that don't.
Vanda's Kitchen products are stocked in Selfridges Food Hall — the same quality standard applies to every catering order we produce. For a production that wants its crew well-fed without paying premium catering rates, this is the combination that works: serious quality, accessible price, full dietary inclusion built in.
